Meet Kayla:
The most powerful and effective tool for change is the relationship that is built between the therapist and client - this is why I approach therapy with warmth, genuineness, transparency, and authenticity. Therapy is collaborative and conversational. We will work together to understand negative thought patterns, unhealthy behaviors, and past experiences, and find ways to help you get to where YOU want to be.
My approach is client centered and strength based, meeting clients exactly where he/she/they are without any preconceived notions, agendas, or judgement. Therapy is hard work - but it’s worth it! We will work together to help you heal and thrive, however that looks. You can be empowered and strengthened through the therapy process to step into the life and experience you want to have.
I have over 11 years of experience in the mental health field and work with adults and adolescents who struggle with depression, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, stress, self-harm, and gender identity. I am a cat mom, bookworm, and cardigan thrifter.
Engaging in counseling can feel intimidating, especially if you are unsure of what to expect or have had negative counseling experiences in the past. I believe in being open and transparent. I recognize that trust is built over time and is something I work to earn with each individual I meet. I promote an atmosphere of warmth and support that is person-centered and gender-affirming. Using a strengths-based approach, I incorporate motivational interviewing, narrative techniques, and other creative outlets to work on goals meaningful to you and to assist you in your journey of personal growth, wherever you are starting from.
If it sounds like we might be a good fit, I encourage you to call or email! I look forward to working with you!
